Outdoor Oasis: Bringing the Homeowner’s Dream to Life

In life’s ever-changing landscape, we all dream about an oasis—that place where you can let out a sigh of satisfaction and believe that dreams really do come true. The team at Davis Outdoor Construction is in the business of making such dreams a reality, one backyard pool at a time. For 22 years, the company has worked with homeowners across the state, building everything from outdoor kitchens, fire pits and waterfalls to elaborate landscaped areas complete with winding pathways and beautiful gardens, irrigation systems and graded areas set off by attractive retaining walls.

Owner Clay Davis says there’s no place he’d rather be than working in the outdoors. It started when he helped a friend do some irrigation work. Davis loved being outside so much, that working outside became his business. He now leads a team of 14 as they bring one outdoor oasis after another to life. Working with developers and builders in addition to homeowners and businesses of every size, Davis Outdoor Construction is based in Flowery Branch, north of Atlanta, and works with homeowners across the state, primarily within a 40-mile radius.

While the company got its start with new construction, it quickly progressed to specialize in building backyard sanctuaries. Think poolside with family and friends. In fact, it is this vision of freedom, fun and family that fuels his dedication of Davis Outdoor Construction team.

The pool industry, it turns out, has grown a whopping 600% in the last year. With nearly all business coming from word-of-mouth referrals and apps like Next Door, business is booming. But that doesn’t take away from Davis’s commitment to keeping customer relationships at the center of everything they do.

“We can give them what they’ve been dreaming about,” says Davis. “We can give them what they want in entirety—from the landscape to the plants to the waterfall to the pool. We take a lot of extra steps to ensure that later on, down the road, they’re not going to have an issue.”

Davis cites a particularly rewarding project involving the construction of a high-end outdoor pool area complete with pizza ovens, waterfalls and more, but one can feel his deep appreciation for the more typical customer. He recalls a homeowner in nearby Braselton who had saved for more than a decade to build a pool. “They just couldn’t believe what we did in their backyard,” he says. The amazement never gets old.

Customers most appreciate the way Davis’s team helps them think ahead and dream bigger than they might have. “What’s your Christmas list? Ten years from now what do you want?” asks Davis. “Do you really wish you could have that outdoor pavilion? Do you see yourself relaxing by a waterfall?” Casting a vision for what’s possible, then making the dream of an outdoor oasis come true—that’s what’s at the heart of the Davis Outdoor Construction story.

When he’s not working, you’ll find Clay Davis dreaming just as big with his own family, planning the family’s next cruise with his wife of 24 years, his children and three grandchildren.
